Why do I need a website?
If you have a product or service to promote, then a website
is an ideal platform for customers either locally, nationally or globally to see what you have on offer.
Almost half (12 million) UK households have an internet connection - not having a website is missing out on lots of potential customers! How many times have you been asked "do you have a website?" only to tell the customer that you don't? Phone calls cost people time and money, and some feel pressured when asking questions down the telephone. A website can be viewed at anytime and at the customers leisure. You will be just as contactable by email at your site as you are by telephone.
Alternatively you may want to share a hobby or interest - perhaps you have a band, or belong to a sports club, maybe you are planning an event such as a wedding or party and want to share your photographs or information about it. In any case a personal website is a great way to get the information across.

I want a website for my hobby/band/sport/club - can you design me one?
Yes, I certainly can! There are pre-designed templates for
you to choose from, which is the cheaper option, or I can build you a website from scratch.
To make things even more affordable, you can register a domain name and then forward this to your own web space with your service provider. Please contact me to discuss this option further.
What happens when I need to have the site updated?
I will be available for updates for the whole life of your website with New Moon Web Designs. I offer maintenance packages or charge per update.
Do I need a domain name?
A domain name,
whether you are a business website or an individual user, will make you and
what you are showing to the world really stand out.
If you don't want to purchase a domain name, then you can always use the free space which would have come with your Internet Service Provider.
I can still design your pages for you and hand them over to you to upload yourself.I can upload them for you, but would require your username and password in order to do this.
How do I choose my domain name?
Naming your domain after your business or yourself is probably the simplest thing to do. You can choose any name you like - providing someone else
hasn't chosen it already! Ideally you shouldn't have hyphens in your domain name, as these are often easy for someone to leave out when typing into
a browser. Domain names without hyphens are also a lot easier to say.
Make sure you say your domain name out loud a few times to hear how it sounds! If the name you have picked is already taken, then you will have to start thinking of variants. This can be difficult if you already have an established business, in this case I would recommend adding hyphens.
I have bought a domain name but don't know what to do next, can you help?
Yes, I can contact the domain registration company you bought it from and arrange for it to be redirected. This may incur an extra fee, as some
domain name registration companies charge to transfer the domain name.
Can you host my site for me?
Yes I can. I use a very reliable server with lots of features you
will find useful.
I also provide website forwarding, whereby I forward your site to another address, such as your ISP. If you have a domain name but can't afford to pay for hosting, this cheaper option could be for you.
Can I use my own graphics/company logo?
Yes you can - as long as they are in the correct format and are not copyright to someone other than yourself.
Can you create graphics or a logo for me?
Yes I can do this for you. This can be discussed at your initial consultation.
What do I need to provide you with?
You will need to provide the content for your website. This could include text, photographs and pictures, graphics and a company logo (if using one).
We will discuss the content of your site in an initial consultation. The more information about yourself or your business that you provide, the quicker
it will be to set up your website and the more information you will provide to your customers.
How will I send you the information you need?
You can send the information on a CD, DVD, Floppy Disk or as an email attachment. I also accept typed documents and photographs which can
be scanned in and uploaded to your site. These will be returned to you.
Have you got any templates for me to choose from?
Yes, I have several template designs for you to choose from. Please be aware
that by choosing a template that other clients of mine may have chosen the same one. I also offer a bespoke website design service where I work to your
requirements.
Can people contact me from my website?
Yes, people can contact you from your site. We can forward all mail to you. Your email will be yourname@yoursite.co.uk. You can have anything you like
in front of the @ symbol and it will reach you. There is also the option of a contact form which we can discuss at your initial consultation.
I want to start an online shop - can you do this for me?
Yes this can be done and is an extra charge.
How long will it take to produce my website?
It is difficult to give an exact timescale for producing a website as it all depends on the complexity of the layout and how quickly you provide the
content/images. You will be given an estimated time scale at your consultation. Typically, template designs will be up and running
within a few days of your payment and supply of content.
Do you provide Search Engine Optimisation?
Search Engine Optimisation is a complex and expensive process which I do not specialise in.
However I do optimise all of my websites to be search engine friendly. I would discuss key phrases with you and give you guidance on the content of your website. I submit your website manually to search engines and online directories. I have successfully had all the websites I have designed listed in the top ten of Google, and in some cases in the number one spot. I can provide no guarantee on search engine rank, but I do my utmost to get your website ranked in the major search engines.
