Why do I need a website?
If you have a product or service to promote, then a website is an ideal platform for customers either locally, nationally or globally to see what you have on offer. 

Almost half (12 million) UK households have an internet connection -  not having a website is missing out on lots of potential customers!  How many times have you been asked "do you have a website?" only to tell the customer that you don't?  Phone calls cost people time and money, and some feel pressured when asking questions down the telephone.  A website can be viewed at anytime and at the customers leisure.  You will be just as contactable by email at your site as you are by telephone.

Alternatively you may want to share a hobby or interest - perhaps you have a band, or belong to a sports club, maybe you are planning an event such as a wedding or party and want to share your photographs or information about it. In any case a personal website is a great way to get the information across.

You have to consider what you want your website to do for you.  It could be a simple site to advertise your business in an attractive and informative way.  Or you may want something a bit more complex.  Whatever your requirements are, New Moon Web Designs are here to help.

I want a website for my hobby/band/sport/club/photographs - can you design me one?
Yes, we certainly can!  We have pre-designed templates for you to choose from, which is the cheaper option, or we can build you a website from scratch.  All you have to do is supply us with the content text and photographs/graphics/images you want to have displayed.

What happens when I need to have the site updated?
We will be available for updates for the whole life of your website with us.  You only have to contact us to discuss what needs to be updated/changed.

Can I update my pages myself?
Yes this is possible to do, however, there are some compatibility issues with Apple Mackintosh Computers.  Should you wish to be able to update pages yourself, this option would be discussed at your consultation.

Do I need a domain name?
A domain name, whether you are a business website or an individual user, will make you and what you are showing to the world really stand out.  The purchase of a domain name is very affordable - prices starting from only £3.46.

If you don't want to purchase a domain name, then you can always use the free space which would have come with your Internet Service Provider.

We can still design your pages for you and hand them over to you to upload yourself.  We can upload them for you, but would require your username and password in order to do this.

How do I choose my domain name?
Naming your domain after your business or yourself is probably the simplest thing to do.  You can choose any name you like - providing someone else hasn't chosen it already!  Ideally you shouldn't have hyphens in your domain name, as these are often easy for someone to leave out when typing into a browser.  Domain names without hyphens are also a lot easier to say.

Make sure you say your domain name out loud a few times to hear how it sounds!  If the name you have picked is already taken, then you will have to start thinking of variants.  This can be difficult if you already have an established business, in this case we would recommend adding hyphens.

I have bought a domain name but don't know what to do next, can you help?
Yes, we can contact the domain registration company you bought it from and arrange for it to be redirected.  This may incur an extra fee, as some domain name registration companies charge to transfer the domain name.

Can you host my site for me?
Yes we can.  We use a very reliable server with lots of features you will find useful.

We also provide website forwarding, whereby we forward your site to another address, such as your ISP.  If you have a domain name but can't afford to pay for hosting, this cheaper option could be for you.

Can I organise my own hosting?
You can indeed - but check with us first as we can offer our own hosting at a very reasonable price.  If you have your own hosting in place already and want us to design your site for you, you will have to provide us with your username and password so that the files can be transferred.

Can I use my own graphics/company logo?
Yes you can - as long as they are in the correct format and are not copyright to someone other than yourself.

Can you create graphics or a logo for me?
Yes we can do this for you.  This can be discussed at your initial consultation.

What do I need to provide you with?
You will need to provide us with the content for your website.  This will include text, photographs and pictures, graphics and a company logo (if using one).  At your consultation we will be able to discuss the content of your site.  The more information about yourself or your business that you provide us with, the quicker it will be to set up your website and the more information you will provide to your customers.

How will I send you the information you need?
You can send us the information on a CD, DVD, Floppy Disk or as an email attachment.  We also accept typed documents and photographs which can be scanned in and uploaded to your site.  These will be returned to you.

Have you got any templates for me to choose from?
Yes, we have several designs for you to choose from. If you would like us to design your website from scratch, we can also do this for you.

Can people contact me from my website?
Yes, people can contact you from your site.  We can forward all mail to you.  Your email will be yourname@yoursite.co.uk. You can have anything you like in front of the @ symbol and it will reach you.

I want to start an online shop - can you do this for me?
Yes this can be done and is an extra charge.

Can you provide me with special effects like flash?
It's best not to include special effects like flash just for the sake of it as they can be annoying to many visitors.  Sometimes they take a long time to load, and people can become bored and leave your site.  However, a well designed, small flash animation logo can create an impact.  We can discuss this requirement with you during your consultation.

How long will it take to produce my website?
It is difficult to give an exact timescale for producing a website as it all depends on the complexity of the layout and how quickly you provide the content/images to us.  You will be given an estimated time scale at your consultation.

Do you provide Search Engine Optimisation?
Search Engine Optimisation is a complex and expensive process which we do not specialise in. 

However we do optimise all of our sites to be search engine friendly.  We are able to do is work on the title, description and keywords of your site and submit them manually to search engines.  We have successfully had our sites listed in the most popular search engines, so we know what we do works!

How much will this all cost me?
We have several different packages for every budget.  A bespoke site may cost a little more depending on the features that are required.  Please take a look at our price list for further details.

What are your methods of payment?
We accept payment by credit or debit card through Paypal. We also accept cheques.
